State Youth Games 2010

State Youth Games 2010 was an awsome weekend. Here is a rundown of the weekend from Michael, one of the team:

State Youth Games 2010 was a great success this year with South Perth blowing everyone away from the start with a spectacular entrance to the opening ceremony! We then went on to win numerous sports Saturday morning AND afternoon and finished it off with HEAPS of pizza, great worship and a good message from Andrew Fisher Saturday night. Brittni then presented the ranks and we were positioned 5th.  We had some ranks to climb! We were up bright and early Sunday morning to continue the sports, once again winning a number of our sports morning and afternoon. Everyone came to a weary close Sunday night with a GREAT dinner cooked by our lovely chefs! After a fulfilling dinner everyone either chatted or piled into bed unsuspecting of the outcome that was to come the next day. Monday morning, everyone slowly rising from their slumbers, we started off with the triathlon with South Perth once again coming out with a win! Overall, positioning 1st, 2nd AND 3rd in all three divisions! We then continued on to the finals with two teams representing the netball and coming out with 2 wins! Then the basketball finals with the female team representing, but sadly coming out with a close loss! As the rest of the finals finished, everyone gathered to hear the results. Going through all the awards, we got numerous awards from first, to runners up. They then started to go through the positions, last to first. One by one, our name WASN’T called out; one by one we got closer to the top. Down to the last three and South Perth STILL hadn’t been called out... Hearts racing they announce the 3rd place. It still isn’t us! Hearts pumping beyond our chests Rod announces the 2nd place, and it’s not us! First place finally called out…SOUTH PERTH - winners of State youth games 2010! Back to back champions! What a comeback! We Are the Champions!
